CEREC by Sirona is a technology that is changing the face of dentistry. The unique design of the CEREC system allows for your crown to be milled from a porcelain block, right here in the office. The way it works is explained in a short video below but in brief, what you can expect is as follows:
1. Your tooth is prepared which means any decay is removed and the healthy tooth is then reshaped to have a crown bonded to it.
2. A thin coating of reflective powder is sprayed lightly over the surfaced of the prepared tooth and a digital impression is taken which registers the depth of ridges and the contours of your newly shaped tooth.
3. A digital version of your crown is designed by Dr. Harris and the information is then sent to a milling unit that crafts your new crown right here in the office.
4. Once the crown is designed, it is checked for fit and then it is glazed, stained and bonded to the prepared tooth.
