You may be surprised by this but most people grind their teeth at night regardless of how much stress they have in their lives. Over time, this grinding will actually wear your teeth down in places and it can also lead to TMJ (temporal mandibular joint) damage which you will notice as pain in your jaw. To prevent this, you may be told that a splint or a night guard may be a good idea.

A splint is a thick, clear piece of hard plastic that is molded to fit snugly to your teeth. It is to be worn at night while you sleep and it will prevent you from grinding your teeth down. In order to make a splint, we must take impressions and then you will need to come back after the splint is designed so that we can make sure it fits properly and provide you with proper instruction on its use.
